: You're welcome! I am however, not a data analyst, and personally wouldn't know what I'm looking for, nor what exactly Riot's system already detects. I can really only give you a qualitative answer to (in the case of the automated detection) a quantitative issue. The fact that what Riot detects isn't public also doesn't exactly help us player side work out what they could be doing better, or what we think would work but in fact is already in effect etc etc. They are of course not public to prevent abuse of the system, but it makes it somewhat difficult to speculate. My point of responding directly to your list of indicators was really just to give perspective. You could be ticking 7 of those boxes just by being behind. We've all had at least one game where we've gone 0/10 for whatever reason, usually because the enemy is better and there is tilt involved. I think we can all agree we shouldn't be banned for those games. Ultimately an automated system can only identify indicators of intent and not intent itself, while manual review just isn't efficient or sustainable. I imagine that yes, there are combinations of factors that would (and/or do) result in a confident assessment of intent, but we don't know how nuanced that may be, or how easily all that data is combined into something accurate and scaleable. You could tick two of your boxes and be fairly confident that there was some intentional shenanigans going on, but you could also tick 7 and not be confident at all, so it's not as simple as checking x number of boxes, they have to be weighted differently or something of the like. The problem there is that the detection has to be broad enough to catch a wide variety of intent feeders, but specific enough to avoid detecting people who are just bad. The biggest issue with this detection (so far as I can tell) is the sheer variety of intent feeding (and of course gameplay offences in general). Running it down mid is one thing, but actively playing the game to an acceptable degree with occasional intentional deaths thrown in for salt is another. The second is somewhat less severe (but can still completely ruin a lane for someone and a game in general) but substantially harder to detect and action data wise. Like I said though, I'm not and never have been any sort of data analyst and a lot of the detailed information is intentionally obscured so there's only so much I can say before any claim or speculation becomes completely baseless.
This conversation is really interesting and I hope it picks up and is noticed by the RIOT devs. > [{quoted}](name=Seras Dragon,realm=OCE,application-id=T8eq2lFQ,discussion-id=7WEIAUEn,comment-id=000200010000,timestamp=2018-04-04T01:21:05.645+0000)... You could be ticking 7 of those boxes just by being behind. We've all had at least one game where we've gone 0/10 for whatever reason, usually because the enemy is better and there is tilt involved. I think we can all agree we shouldn't be banned for those games. You answered yourself in that statement. Yes, we've had _one _ game, where due to not being our best we go 0/10 and maybe tick a couple of those other "boxes". However, not consistently, game after game. I actually had a game last week, where the enemy mid lane akali kept running down lane and letting me kill her because she "wanted the account banned and it was taking too long". However, half way through the game started roaming and playing properly to make it look like she hadn't done anything wrong. Another thing with the perma banning. You're cutting the head of the hydra. Instead of banning the account, the IP address needs to be banned. It's not that hard. Most other online multiplayer games do it. This way, you locate the problem, cut it off at it's source, and all other accounts attached to it also die. I understand that would be hard in public places, but I'm sure there would be a way for the owner of the public venue to be notified of particular toxic behaviour, so they can ban that trouble maker from the premise. If "but this doesn't bring us money" rebuttle springs to mind, these multi-account, toxic players are actually making you lose money and time and actual players that have and will invest time and money into LoL. Also, with the "Hybrid" concept, the automatous route is too vague understandably, and the manual one is inefficient and time and man power consuming. Why not have the player base help? I'm sure this has been brought up before? Have players with a high honour score and none to minimal reports against them look through a few cases. I would sure be up for the task. Then after 100 reports that get successfully analysed and put through (via a peer report system so that you can't just deny all requests) you can get a chest or something. Just my 2 cents ^_^
: haven't played this game for a very long time
With the lack of a Proper Tribunal that blocks IP addresses instead of just accounts, with Australia and NZ shonky internet, this game is not recommended if you want to have fun. I too forget, and then come back and play thinking "Maybe this time will be different" but it isn't. One in about 30 games at most is fun. The rest are gruelling, and frustrating, as you will either have; a) a feeder b) an AFK c) an AFK after giving first blood and 5 kills d) a chat spammer with rude and racist, sexist, you name ist trash talk e) someone who shouldn't be on the OCE server and makes your ping >9000 f) someone who doesn't ping or isn't map aware then blames you for dying when they're in the enemies jungle g) a person too young to be playing a game that requires a higher brain function than "point and shoot" . . x) stays in jungle all game and doesn't gank y) doesn't buy or place a single ward then wonders why they're getting ganked in their own jungle z) all of the above and more! I started playing this at the end of 2nd season. It was fun then...maybe cuz we were on the American server... and not as many <16YO had access to their mums credit cards/computers back then. But now, it's more of an assignment. and the due time was an hour ago, and you haven't started and you have no idea what it's about. But what do I know? You might get lucky. If you're one of the better players, please do play. We need more people like that. GG and HF all
: I don't really know and or care that much. However it does annoy me slightly, but for different reasons. Way back when reaching lvl 30 took some effort. by the time you hit lvl 30 and if you only spent IP on champions and teir 3 runes. You could have a decnt basic set up for ranked. However new players or those that decide to not think. Wont buy or have a full teir 3 rune page. My only issue is what is it going to do to ranked, as newer players who just jump in and have no idea what's going on has caused issues before.
I totally agree. Leveling up that fast doesn't give them time to adjust to new Runes or Masteries or Champions for that matter. In Ranked maybe it could be, only if you have all T3 runes, all mastery points used, and the champ you chose has to have a T3 mastery.... Definitely with ranked there needs to be an experience or wins counter matching involved.

: Rank LP Suggestion~
> Which is very clear. The point is, changing the LP system to your idea doesn't work, nor does it make sense. How doesn't it work? In what way doesn't it make sense? It's very clearly laid out. > It rewards your ability to win the game. Sometimes you get carried, sometimes you do the carrying, sometimes it's an even job. Yes **currently**. > That's why sometimes you can't be the leader. If your team isn't listening, you either make them or you follow them instead and win that way.... > The game is about strategy, yes. However, planning out actions means nothing if you don't execute them properly, which is why a large number of winning games are lost. Throws because someone has abandoned strategy, the strategy was bad, or the enemy outsmarted you. Currently the game** isn't **about strategy. Yes, deciding your position per game (leader or follower, carry or supp) is a part of strategy, and is fluid depending on the current situation during the match, however without a common goal, or objective, roles are lost and meaningless and with only winning as the goal, might as well only have 1 person per team. Throws happen because there is no strategy in the beginning, only an end goal with no thought on how to obtain it. Strategies in game are fluid and having the LP points on objectives would give an indication as to whether the current strategy is working or not. For example, I would suggest, don't follow that one enemy, stay at this turret and we'll kill them then push. They follow, all die due to them not seeing that all the enemy has respawned. I'm left defending turret. Having the LP on objectives and a minus for deaths and loss of objectives, makes the team weigh the benefits of the current strategy and going, hey, maybe we should change it to, "all group in mid and push down their turrets" or "grab a dragon and take bot tower as we've lost all of our bot towers". > Depends on the game mode. In some you need a team, in some you can carry by yourself easily. It was my mistake using a game I don't really know. But was an exercise to see that you're going to oppose me no matter what. I'm guessing the current ranking system is working in your favour. So why change it? I'm not suggesting to change the system because I'm in Bronze and can't rise, I'm suggesting to change it to make it more reasonable and reliable, and again more about strategy. If this system was in place, I could well and truly remain in bronze, but I would know that it is because of **my** current strategy and game play, and not because of random chance of team mates and whether they work well as a team or not. Also I was under the impression that downvoting was used if it was offensive, not related to the topic, or spam. Not because you didn't agree with it. It would be nice to see what an actual RIOT employer thinks of this and whether it has any merit or not. And if so why.
: Rank LP Suggestion~
I think you're both missing the point of this post, I'm guessing you didn't read to the bottom. And you didn't need to downvote it, as I was told by a Riot employee, that this was the section of the boards to post my idea. Now people who might actually be interested in it will be hesitant because you've downvoted it. This post is about an idea to CHANGE the LP system. Not wondering what it's based on now. Yes, currently it's based on wins and losses, however, it doesn't reward individual efforts, or efforts to work as a team. Currently it's every player for themselves. > Higher players therefore know how to win the game better than those below them. You're stating the obvious. However, it doesn't matter how skilled or experienced you are if the rest of the team doesn't coordinate with you. >All that matters is winning. And this is why the system is outdated. LoL is meant to be a game about strategy. And if your strategies are better than the enemy team, then you'll win more games. I believe a game where you win from strategy and synergy with your team mates is more satisfying than, like I said, a game about "who can hit the buttons faster". Wars of attrition are boring. Do you play COD or Battlefield? Don't you have to come up with a strategy with your team mates to win those? Isn't it fun when your plan works and you win the match? I probably should have said "leave a constructive comment" not reply after you've read the first line.

: Hate to say I agree with you. Like I'm not that good Silver/Gold at best, but bugger me dead. My mates had gold MMR and end up in bronze and they lost 2/3 close games out of 10. Be good if you guys could justify it that's all. I'm glad that this was posted but at the end of the day that is one of your weakest points RIOT. Constructive criticism that you definitely needed to hear. Also, the comment about getting 'kicked in the face', is exactly how your supporters feel. James.
Yeah, like you said, it would just be nice to have a little bit of data that showed us exactly _why_ we are placed where we are. Wrote an email, and got this automated response back. > Jan 28, 09:10 > > Hello Summoner, > > The 2016 Season is a fresh start for everyone who plays ranked games. Your last season's performance carries weight, along with your placement matches, **but this doesn't necessarily mean you will be placed in the same division you ended in last season.** > > We made some changes to the Leagues system this season that should allow players to more quickly reach the League that appropriately reflects their skill level. So, even if you didn't place in the division you expected, it's important to remember that this is your starting point for the season, not your final destination. > > You can find more information about these on the links below: > > https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/206690963-Transitioning-to-the-2016-Season#h3 > > https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/204010760-Ranked-Play-FAQ In Bold, actually all of my friends got placed in the _exact same position_ as last season. : Preseason 2016 crests the horizon!
This sounds like a META shift. With the increase in price of health pots and the removal of mana pots, the champions that will be selected will be ones that don't use mana and have a high starting HP and armour. > "When there are standard starting item builds for every game of League, the end result is these builds tend to benefit (very slightly) certain champions over others." This is backwards thinking. The items help level out the playing field, and so by hiking up the price or removing the item, the ones that already had an advantage will have a greater advantage. For example, now heavy mana users in mid, will have to change their build path to incorporate a mana or mana regen item as their first item. Thus, giving the advantage to the enemy champ whom may not require mana or have spells that are very low mana cost ({{champion:30}}). Or will have to substitute Teleport as one of their summoner spells. Or change masteries to a support role so that they can have cookies for their mana. Increasing the cost of HP pots, by how much? Will this mean Junglers are only able to buy 1 HP pot at the start of the game now? Making them rely more heavily on a double leash, putting the other lanes behind? Will there be a jungler specific HP item, giving 3 refills of health and mana, like a flask, but cheaper? And with the removal of the stealth ward...? You have a whole article stating that we should ward and upgrade our trinkets, then turn around saying you're removing the stealth ward anyway...? I guess I have to wait to see what you replace it with and what this upgrade of sight stone is. On the upside I'm looking forward to the Rift Herald! : > 1 - Blocking a player means you don't play with them again, until you unblock them. The problem with this is that you could block players who are better than you so you don't get matched with them.
I see what you mean, but why block them if there is a chance that they'll be on your team next game? Also, it could be that you can only block people from your team?
: Instant feedback powers up
This sounds like it was a lot of hard programing, so well done! I'm guessing this is all to make the tribunals easier and fairer when they come back online? A few pointers/suggestions: **1 - Blocking a player means you don't play with them again, until you unblock them.** Like an email account/facebook, have a list of the people you've blocked, and their toxicity level/reform level next to them. Once you think they're okay to have a decent game with again, unblock them and, like FB, can't block them again for another 48 hours (to give them a chance, might be 1 bad game). It's like using the school class to punish the loud kid, the more ppl block him/her, the longer the queue time, the more likely - hopefully - they would want to reform. **2 - Like an honour band, there should be a toxicity/leaver band in loading screen.** Toxicity could be a %, when it's going up, red, going down, blue, constant, yellow. When it reaches 100%, insta-temporary ban. And/or a ratio for how many afk's/dc's, so 1 in every 100 games (1:100). These bands can warn players of repeat offenders and encourage those trying to reform. **3 - In post game lobby, when reporting, it should be a multiple selection, rather than just one.** I understand this is probably to categorise them into simple niches, but sometimes a player can be equally "Unskilled" and "Intentionally feeding" and "Verbal Abuse" and "Refusing to communicate with team" all at once. There should also be a counter to the later being "Refusing to respond to teams communications". Hmmm. Also a "kill joy/party pooper" for all those "it's just a game/norms". Lol. Jk. I don't agree with those in the comments that say "sometimes some people deserve to be told off in game". No, I don't think so. Even when it's not directed at me, I feel anxious and annoyed at arguing in the game, and it puts off _my_ game, then _I_ do bad and they start yelling at _me_. A simple "please don't do this" or "You could do that better, this is how" is best I believe. They either take it or leave it. If they take it, the team is better off, if they don't, then mute them and warn players that this particular team member is not to be relied upon. Raging at someone just shows your insecurities about your own game play. The pre-game lobby "reject" button, is a great idea, although would become redundant if the 3 pointers are taken into play or the "Intentional feeding" ban works. Plus it's redundant if you still have to play the game, like CadoAzazel suggests, seeing as in the post-game lobby, you can report them instead. What would be good is if there was another 30 second slot of time before the champ swapping time, where, if one team has 4 votes against the troll, it opens up the chat and vote to the other team, and they can vote and decide to forfeit the game as well. This will avoid the "their team pick is better" dodge. Long post, sorry. Enjoy~ - CyanShinobi

Hey Zaps, Welcome to the team~! What is your favourite Book in each genre? You seem to be responding quite quickly, maybe give your co-workers in the "Help and Support" section a bit of a nudge. :) Or you can tell them that there is a bug when clicking "Play Again" sometimes it goes into the Custom Game screen instead of the game mode queue you were just playing. A quick question, does LoL have a minimum requirements like most games to run? It would be nice if, before we played a game, there would be a way to test our internet strength in real time and have the results show how many drop outs, how many lag spikes, latency, and pop up with a box saying whether or not we meet the minimum requirements to have a full 30 -40 min stable LoL game. Also do you have an ETA on the OCE Tribunal? I've lost 13 Ranked Games in a row (and I'm pretty sure that's statistically impossible) due to trolls and AFKs. Ranked advancement, especially for solo and duo Q should be based off performance, as well as W/L. Because of a Lack of an OCE Tribunal people who normally aren't toxic, like me, their patience is wearing thin at being neglected. Also, how does the Grade system work? I can go 12/2/22 as an example and still get a C-. It seems rather arbitrary. A quick question became many, Sorry~! There just doesn't seem to be much red activity in the forums anymore... Refresh your router or contact your server provider", or something along those lines. All games have minimum requirements to play. LoL should too.

Yeah I'm in East Aus and usually my ping is around 36 but ever since about patch 5.6 I've had huge lag spikes and lots of A2R. I'm with Telstra and worked hard to see if it was them, but they switched us over to another band and did other things to our account, which didn't fix the issue, so it's, as always (even though they don't want to admit it) on RIOT's end. Really, Ever since patch 4.13 in summer of 2013-14 the server hasn't been up to scratch, as confirmed by; > _Posted by: Stüdmuffin > I work IT, so I have a decent idea about what I'm doing when it comes to troubleshooting connectivity. > The problem y'all are talking about is happening to me, too, and it absolutely started when Riot had us download 4.13 -- don't worry, it's really not a problem on your end, even if you talk to a Riot support employee via support ticket and they try to tell you that it is (this has happened to me before, and it really made me want to /facepalm when I read the support ticket's response -_- ). _I'm reasonably certain that it all links back to the DDoS attacks Riot was sustaining back in the early months of 2014. It's disheartening to me that I haven't been able to find any public notice about how they dealt with it. My hunch is that they started to ban certain ISPs as a way to triage the problem -- it'd be a much cheaper, resource-wise, solution than, say, upgrading their own security protocols server-side. If there are any Riot employees reading this thread, please: I'd love a statement about what the server team's response was in the aftermath of the DDoS attacks, and whether or not your team considers it a closed case. I'm not afraid of computer lingo in the response, and I'd wager a bunch of RP (maybe, say, the $300 worth I bought during the sale just before I started to have major connection issues, preventing me from really enjoying my purchase -- you can check my sales record against the sharp change in my login record if you want to confirm this) that a whole host of League fans also wouldn't balk at such an explanation. Rather, we'd appreciate Riot's forthrightness in addressing what appears to be an ongoing issue. </3_ Read the whole thread (which started about the lack of server communication between WTFast and LoL clients - which is still an issue) here: http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=4747542 And notice that the IT guy didn't get any response.... > If you are experiencing high pings please head over to http://oce.leagueoflegends.com/tools/network-logs and follow the instructions to run some diagnostics and submit the reports to us. > > -ToxicHawk > Don't bother doing this. Tried WTFast "Free Basic User". It worked wonderfully for one game. After that game finished, couldn't view end game stats, then got the "an unexpected issue has occurred". Logged out and back in using WTFast, but when I tried to start a game either I would get that message again repeatedly or, playing with a friend, he would get the "accept game" but the window wouldn't even pop up for me, then I'd be loading forever. I tried loading into LoL with out WTFast and entering a game then logging out and logging back in using WFTast, but it wouldn't even get past the pregame loading screen. I'm in East Aus, and have been having ping and Attempted to Reconnects (A2R) issues for over a month. Riot did the typical "Run and submit a network diagnostics test" then fails to respond to my submission. I'll try d/ling WTFast and get back to you on whether it worked for me aswell!!
: Looking to remedy high ping in West Aus
I think it's OCE in general. I'm in East Aus, and have been having ping and Attempted to Reconnects (A2R) issues for about a month. Riot did the typical "Run and submit a network diagnostics test" then fails to respond to my submission. Why can't they see it's not our end, it's RIOT's? Game is no longer fun. Best way to get a response is if no one played LoL until the server was fixed. Apparently they're having this trouble in the UK but 1000x worse but still RIOT doesn't care as long as the money is still rolling in. Once again, should start a petition ---> "NO PLAY! NO PAY!"

: Player Behaviour FAQ (updated for Instant Feedback)
As quite a few people have said, let the OCE community help you in getting rid of the offenders. This can be done simply by when a player blocks another player, they never get placed with that player again. Eventually the queue for the blocked player would be so long that it's punishment enough. Also if someone AFK's there needs to be some sort of early surrender so that we don't have to wait around until the 20min mark to surrender.
: Patch 5.5 notes
Hey there, about the change to the turrets, was that decision influenced by my post here? ---> http://boards.oce.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-strategy/5Ecx0dVi-general-discussion-and-suggestions All of these changes are awesome~! I feel like the game is getting a lot more balanced. :D Keep up the good work Riot!

: Hey guys, Thanks for the reports - Can you tell me what location you are in and ISP you are with? EDIT: it would also be great if you could run the [network diagnostic tool](http://oce.leagueoflegends.com/tools/network-logs) and submit the results! -Mindstar
So I sent in the *network diagnostic tool* and replied with my area and ISP and I haven't had any reply so far. The lag spikes and A2R's are still as prevalent as ever. People on both the enemy team and ally team experience the lag spike or A2R at the same time, so it is NOT on OUR end. Just as an indicator at how things should be done, I had trouble with the Free To Play game "Defiance" where I couldn't buy something and an error kept popping up. The GM located the problem, fixed it and personally replied back to me *within a DAY*! With RIOT we're treated like Centrelink customers "Please use the phones and someone might get back to you". At least reply to me via email saying what the problem might be with possible solutions. I know OCE/Australia is kinda the forgotten part of the world also known as Narnia, but I assume we are still a large portion of your bank roll. I also had another recent problem where as soon as I was in the loading screen pregame, somehow LOL would make my computer lose all the wireless Networks. I would have to completely restart my computer and internet router to fix it. I repaired my LOL and that seems to have fixed the problem for now. Has anyone else had this weird issue?

: The selection box on the Nexus needs to be a bit smaller. At the moment, it's too easy to click on the ground next to the Nexus and have that move order incorrectly identified as an attack order. I'd also suggest giving the Nexus a small aura that allows champions to move through minions. Between the Nexus, the two Nexus turrets and up to 40 minions and 10 champions, the pathfinding really suffers right at the end of the game.
I totally agree. Although there are items for movement through minions, I feel that the minions pose too much of a barrier (especially your own ones, which we should be able to move through with ease, not hinder their own team, lol). Also, talking about minions, the attack animations need to finish *soooo* much quicker. How often have we done that stupid stuttering action as we try to last hit a minion only having it die in the process along with 3 others. Not saying the attack speed should be quicker between each attack, but that each attack is executed faster.

: I don't think you should be posting that here, LELOLELOELOLLOEALELAOEOL. It contains personal information. Just send the logs in the usual way.
Didn't realise it contained my name. Can you please also delete my name from your comment. Ta.
