: we're talking about chat offenses in a video game. you're trying to compare it to bank robbery which is considered an extreme crime. if you're going to compare it to RL then compare it to something similar. like traffic offenses and minor crimes. i think you'll see in the courts they generally are not going to give you max penalty straight away if you are generally a law abiding citizen but they will for reoccurring offenses. lets say u got really annoyed with someone and randomly sperged out and pushed them (out of character for you) and they called the cops. are you saying you deserve and should be imprisoned for 2 years which is the actual maximum sentence for common assault when you have 0 priors and have been a law abiding citizen for decades? funny how your argument is actually helping prove mine....
: yeah alright lets ignore hundreds and potentially thousands of other instances of "good behaviour" and lets focus aggressively on the 1 instance of "bad behaviour" and permanently ban the person. i mean, that mentality is the definition of negative and toxic. suspension/bans when it comes to chat "offenses" should be for consistent offenses.

: I said "neck yourself" and got the same. Between this and the IP replacement system the game is becoming a joke tbh. LoL used to occupy a very special place but at this rate riot / tencent are going to me more hated than EA before long. Are tencent doing to riot what EA have done to every single company they have ever acquired? (ie alienated the fan base, monetised everything because of greed and not need, killed everything good about the game in the name of profit etc). Riot had revenues in excess of 2bn/a but they pull this shit to scrape more money out? Perhaps the game population is dwindling and they're trying to milk the remaining players for all they can before the game dies completely? who knows. But whatever the reason, it is bad for the game.
I Agree, the analogy would be a dictatorship.
: it isnt even for 1 sentence though. reality is you were suspended for the use of one specific word. that word being f a g.
Wow did a riot employee evoke a form of PTSD associated with that specific word.

That’s like me say robbing a bank getting caught and say but iv followed the law for the last 20 years why are u punishing me. Doing good behaviour doesn’t make u exempt from when u do bad behaviour
I think you saw this coming but the extremity of the crime matters. Lets keep your analogy and say what if the crime was petty, in most instances you would pay in community service or let go with a warning not put behind bars. Your punishment is definitely influenced by your record.
