: Honestly, I just upvoted it for the Riven main part. But, that aside, the European servers are probably in the same boat. It's not just OCE. And I personally don't really see it as being that big of a problem. Like you said, we just have to continue doing our best to communicate via pings (I'm not even going to include emotes because I'm 100% convinced that's just for fun at this point). Pings do wonders when people actually use them, and there's no need for any chat at all. Don't forget all the people who instantly mute all, too.

Report them, and if you're unhappy, send a ticket to Riot's support page, and see if they can manually review the accounts. Until then, wait for the algorithm to find them, and be patient. : Worlds viewing party disappointment - Hoyts Melbourne Central
Sorry to hear the disappointment Rexx. I'll pass this on to the group that ran the Hoyts Central viewing party. I hosted the Worlds 2016 as well as the OPL Finals at Hoyts this year at Central, and this year I was at Victoria Gardens for Worlds instead of Central. It was a much smaller venue, super cosy. A lot less stressful than the 100+ capacity of Melbourne Central. Seems like manpower was streched thin this year for Worlds, and they tried something new for swag bag distribution. The 2014 style you saw was more my style of running things, but different organizers have different methods and ideas. With feedback like this, we can tell when ideas work well, and... when they fall to pieces. So, thanks for vocalising the problem, so we can work towards it not happening again in the future. :)

You were a bit abusive, and you went AFK. That deserves a punishment. You say you're permanently banned, but Riot only perma bans accounts for SEVERE first time infractions, which means either you've been banned before for similar behavior, or there's more to the story. As for in-game trolls, the feeders, the champion select hostages, and the rest of them, they're a problem that will be dealt with over time the only way that things get better is if you report those that break the rules, and don't fall to their level, which you sadly, did.

: Normal Draft test coming to Oceania
A move bound to happen eventually, but I have a concern. A lot of people find themselves "Stuck" in support in normals, and that's going to happen here as well, it's unavoidable. Will we be sticking to the usual of having people be auto filled when their selection isn't rolled to them, or are we going to start giving better incentives to queue in fill? ( besides quicker games ) the idea of minor increases of LP being rewarded for filled players in ranked was shot down, and rightfully so, but perhaps an increase in IP for non ranked players who select fill?

Implosion (OCE)
: Should OPL have 10 teams instead of 8? Maraudar where you at?
Unfortunately, Riot is in no state currently to implement these changes. While there is a current pro roster of approximately 40 players, there is also substitutes, and in some special cases, coaches who are also adept at the game, and while there is a distinct difference between a part time player and a full time player, opening up the league to 2 more teams is only going to extend the amount of people in one distinct group, rather than working at closing the gap in a more meaningful way. Let's look at some numbers. Australian teams have a large following when it comes to fan bases, however that doesn't really transition over to broadcast numbers themselves. Riot's production budget for the OPL is immense, and it's showing in their growth, however due to the scene not being marketed to international audiences very effectively, 90%+ fans are from Australia and New Zealand, and because we have such a low populus to begin with, the numbers just aren't there. Additionally, Riot's production facility in Sydney isn't just used for the OPL, but also other regions including the LPL, LMS ( I think? dunno ) and a lot of international tournaments, handling the English broadcasts. Adding an additional day a week to broadcast is going to put a strain on the facility, the talent, AND the viewers. Viewers barely turn up to both days of the OPL, focusing mainly on watching one specific matchup a week, and whatever else they catch unintentionally. I think that Riot would absolutely want to get another 2 teams competing in the OPL, however the current attention of Riot Oceania has been moreso focused on the legitimacy of Esports as a business investment, and marketing the concept as a whole to large scale investors ( Dire Wolves say thanks ) or to traditional sporting organizations ( Legacy says thanks ). The next goals for Riot are apparently to increase team funding, so that teams can hire more support staff, such as social media managers, video editors, marketing / PR managers, and other niche things such as player psychology experts, and personal trainers and health instructors. I've only seen a peak behind the curtain through friends in both teams and at Riot, and there is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes, and with most choices they make, they usually know what they're doing. ( Don't get me wrong, I do have some critical feedback, but I also do lack a lot of insider information that'd possibly explain their decision making in some choices ) Riot is building stability, and looking at some big plans in the coming years. All you can do is trust they're exploring options ( especially ones such as the 10 team format, which has worked wonderfully for large scale regions ) and await the big things to come. Hope that helps explain some :)

: A problem with LoL, and a solution
The new problem there with draft normals is that it impacts on queue time. A fair few players have already said that a game of LoL takes too long. Adding another 2 or so minutes on that would be annoying alternatively, blind draft, where each player has 30 seconds to pick as it goes down the list, and you don't see your enemy picks....

: At a first glance, i thought this would work... However.. Insta-locking is not the root of the problem, and to properly remove an issue with ANYTHING, you must strike at the root of the problem. What is mean is: IF someone is thinking of taking a lane, and a champion, and not caring about their team... They will do this regardless, it doesnt matter if you stop them from locking in for the first 10 seconds, 30 seconds, minute... they will do this regardless... It's very hard to fix the problem you've discussed, Even if they implemented draft mode, they would still arise with these same problems, people stealing lanes because "it's not ranked, who cares, im taking mid, go support". And well.. draft mode isn't viable in OCE due to the amount of people playing...

Blasted Riot, hiding their schemes in legal doctrine in plain sight that we just don't feel like reading as responsible consumers....
: Need some constructive criticism
Work on audio balancing. That's the main one. If recording in OBS, you can actually separate your microphone from your game sounds and other people talking, so you can change the volume of one independently. The use of a clip before the intro is good, but it needs to be a quick clip. The 30 second clip about [REMOVED] is good and all, but there's a fair few seconds of silence in there, where you have nothing. That's no good. You want to try and keep the first clip to below 15 seconds, and you're free to cut a few times in the same one recording to save time and still convey the full story. You're playing around and having some fun with some elements of editing which is good and all, over time you will adapt some preferences and end up with some tropes you keep coming back to. This will be your style, and once you discover it, it's important to honor it as best you can, to keep your content consistent with those that are already on board and subscribed. I've done content creation and advising for years, if you've ever got questions to ask, come and find me :)

SIN's whole thing right now is that they are a force of pure disruption to the local Esports scene. Last split pulling some amazing wins vs LGC and CHF in the groups Then playing 15 competitive games in 3 days, besting AV and CHF, as well as taking LGC to a nail biting game 5 And again now, against all odds, taking on almost an entire foreign region and only losing to the best of the best, who then wiped our entire region. Combine this with their "When things get messy, we can out-mess anyone" play style and SIN are the true DEFINITION of what a Wildcard is, and what they can do.

: LGC, SIN and DW logos look good here...and by God did TM downgrade their logo....
TM probably did it as a minor rebranding thing, given the chaos and controversy of last split.
Blamzite (OCE)
: Lack of OCE events
Well, plain and simple, events that are only for the lower ELO of players are such a high risk to run. If you set up a competition that is open to bronze and silver players only, then the competition won't be very "Good" in the way of the quality of the games, so instantly people have less of a reason to watch it. Then if somehow you pull in prizing of any form, it'll encourage higher ranked players from jumping on an alt account, or on their friends account, just to participate and win some easy games and easy prizes. Policing this is a lot more effort than it's worth. Yes, we have a lower amount of community events, because our server is one of the smallest in existence, and we're isolated from everyone who isn't new zealand and some independent islands due to latency. There's nothing we can do short of starting a new landmass next to us, or importing a few hundred thousand new players to populate the server. On the other side, communities have been slowly leaving the League of Legends scene, primarily due to lack of interest, returns, or just changing directions. That doesn't mean that community events are out for good. Look at Oceanic Gaming ( hi ). They have two community nights this month, in the spirit of fun and competitive play. There's no huge prizing or anything, but there is a free entry, a stream provided, and two very handsome casters providing entertainment to all who show up to play. Alternatively, if you don't like what's there ( and there's not much there ), you can always host your own events. I know that Marauder ( Riot's Community Manager ) would LOVE to hear from people willing to put in the hard yards to get some more events started up, it sure makes his day at work more interesting ;) Hope that clears things up a bit, man :)

: Hey Jason, As to your first question that's something either myself or Riot Benji could answer and it's actually a really interesting one. Producing a show in 1080p 60 (59.94) is not industry standard for broadcast in Australia and almost all the hardware, though theoretically 1080p capable, is typically run at 1080i and most definitely not at 60 fps. Without hijacking Belquins thread the tl;dr is that we built a studio that combines technologies (broadcast and digital) in order to produce at 1080p 60. CNET did a tour of the studio in split 1 and released a video article which featured some of our broadcast tech that might interest you. :)
It's funny, that progressive over interlaced is such a standard for internet based playback with youtube and twitch, but it's still quite common in traditional broadcast. > [{quoted}](name=Perigan,realm=OCE,application-id=Ntey9fRZ,discussion-id=5bhWchFJ,comment-id=00050000000000000000,timestamp=2017-05-12T07:02:26.038+0000) > CNET did a tour of the studio in split 1 and released a video article which featured some of our broadcast tech that might interest you. > > :) Also, google has failed me on this one. : Hey Jason, Thanks for the questions. In regards to #1 - I am hugely un-technical when it comes to Video and Broadcast. What I would say is that there's definitely opportunities for community created Webseries from a teams perspective and I think its a huge area for growth that our players would love. For the production/broadcast tech - I'm gonna bring in the big guns - Riot Perigan who is the OPL producer and has the expertise on these matters in our office. For #2 - If we were to attend conventions again, the primary purpose would not be to sell merchandise. Personally I am completely on board with supporting the teams in selling their merchandise to help our players express their love for a team, but I'm not sure that attending conventions to do this is the right way - but at OPL related events, of course.

I totally agree, but most of the reasons cited for why they cancelled the events were setup times, and employee costs during setup. Merchandise would help to illeviate that cost, and then give you more freedom to run an event that you actually want to see ran. Like, the OPL had merch for sale, but the OPL finals weren't made to sell merch. I get ya.

I'm also looking forward to some ferocious gameplay as the best of each state does fights hard for the win! Philosophically, the next big steps we want to work on is facilitating our players/fans coming together for social situations around our game. I'm really not sure what this will look like as of right now but we recognise its importance. I've definitely heard your and other players feedback about the OCS visibility and definitely want to work on providing more access to the grass roots League of Legends - being the OCS, OOL and even community tournaments. It definitely was disappointing though in split 1 and we will do better :) Cheers
Yo, 2 Questions. 1 - I'm super interested in broadcasting, and have been working on TV and webseries productions a lot recently. Say that an opportunity makes itself available in the Sydney studio within broadcast, is there any tech or production hardware you guys have that isn't industry standard due to working with both camera and virtual input? 2 - In regards to this; > [{quoted}](name=belquin,realm=OCE,application-id=Ntey9fRZ,discussion-id=5bhWchFJ,comment-id=00050000,timestamp=2017-05-12T06:04:03.589+0000) > Philosophically, the next big steps we want to work on is facilitating our players/fans coming together for social situations around our game. Riot has withdrawn it's efforts for supporting conventions to try and centralize their branding and events to be entirely In-house ( Riot ran, Riot funded, Riot controlled ) and less expensive, and even recently in OCE withdrawn it's support for live finals on location, so that their budget could be focused on the OPL broadcast, and creating a more stable environment for the very small scene to hopefully grow on. Something I've found odd is that only AFTER cancelling their convention plans have Riot began selling merchandise at their events ( namely LAN finals like opl, worlds, ect. ). Knowing that conventions would be a great way to host community centric events and sell a lot of merchandise, do you think Riot might start considering the possibility of attending conventions again? ( even if only the top 3 most populars )
