Lalna (OCE)
: Second clash game crashed
Thanks for the screenshot Lalna, when we get all the tournament metrics in, I'll see if I can provide an explanation on what might have happened
Grantuss (OCE)
: Clash is still broken
Hey Grantuss, I'll look into this when the tournament metrics are in - see if there is anything to dig up on what happened to your team. So sorry mate, that would have been so disappointing :(
: I'm confused. On my League Client on the Clash tab it says Beta Cup June 3 - 5. In the post above it says this is just a 1 day thing? Clarification?
yeah, the messaging isn't as clear as it could be. The Tournament is open for teams to be created (3rd) with the actual matches being on the 5th (1 day).
Magıc (OCE)
: When is the clash testing?
Details on the beta tournaments hasn't been finalized/released yet. But it'll be posted on the site when it is!
: Hello! Thank you for the update and reimbursement! Personally I'm content with this response except for one thing... Can the loss be removed from our records because we didn't 'play'? I noticed this wasn't mentioned! I know some teams DID play, so what are the plans for that?
Hey Shadow Entrancer! Teams aren't carried forward between tournaments, meaning you create (or remake) a team each time. Because of this, win/loss is self-contained to each tournament, so with every new Clash tournament your new team's record will begin with a clean state at 0-0. TL;DR: Record of your team's performance won't be stored, but it doesn't mean you can't keep tabs yourself for bragging rights ;)
Nilly00 (EUW)
: I am confused. Today is friday. The first day clash was supposed to take place (except for the beta). How can you know about what apparently will have gone wrong? Is this a post from the future or what?
Hey Nilly, this is the Oceanic message boards (hence the confusing time difference) https://boards.euw.leagueoflegends.com/en/ is probably what you were actually looking for!
: ***
Oh no, no - I wasn't making light of that! Not at all. 'The T1 Special' was ribbing me because I'm Bronze 5, and I was responding to that
: {{champion:29}}
A good cry in the bathroom helps me get through it at times
: I trust that the right steps will be taken to fix these issues. But I'm worried that my trust is misplaced. I'm worried that riot will brush it off and say "deal with it" to all the people who got screwed over by this. I really hope this isn't the case... I don't think anyone specifically is to blame but it's honestly not good enough. I want the rioters to know that if everything gets fixed and nobody is screwed over too much then you have my appreciation and support!
This certainly isn't a "deal with it" situation, this is on us. We let you down. Clash crashed and we're trying to identify the issue and resolve it. Thank you for your understanding here, this fucking sucks and we need to earn your trust back after this. Updates will be posted here whenever we can.
: My whole team is beyond tilted after tonight, we spend the whole week "scrimming" and preparing for this and get dealt an auto-loss. We were on the hot winning streak feeling confident about crash to have all of our hope shattered after we got error-ed. Quite frankly I'm appalled and extremely disappointed. It just killed all of our moods. Do you guys have anything in terms of a solution for all the players and teams that got dealt the "auto-loss" card? The worst part about it is probably seeing people on my friends list actually playing clash while we're all stuck sitting out :(
I had the same happen (except for the hot streak) with my team. I'm so sorry you guys worked so hard, to then be let down by us like this. We have everyone working on investigating the crash, and then will figure out what happens next. I hope we get your team back on your winning streak, updates will be posted on this board.
: My friends and I have limited availability but pushed our responsibilities aside to make room for clash. I don't want to be told "clash decided you lost, better luck tomorrow". I want to play a game tonight. This is totally unfair.
It is unfair, and we let you down here. Clash has crashed and has affected multiple regions. We're investigating with all hands and will try to update this board whenever we have anything to share
Spenzeit (OCE)
: Complete disgrace....Your game is dying you cannot afford f ups like this.. Joke of a company officially done with your game. Complete BS that all you can say is you are "really sorry" and that if you lost then you lost. How ridiculous...many people met up in real life at PC cafes all over Nz and Australia and all you can say is "we are really sorry" what a complete waste of everyone's time and efforts. Not good enough Riot.
You're right, "sorry" is not good enough. We let you down here. Clash had a serious crash that affected multiple regions and we're all-hands investigating. We can't bring it back up without the risk of having the same thing happening again. Updates will be posted in this board as we know more
Euryale (OCE)
: Wait you guys seriously RNG'ed who won and lost? Are you kidding me? Thats so infinitely unfair to those who were assigned losses, a refund in ticket isnt the problem; WE HAVE TO WAIT TWO WEEKS FOR THE NEXT ROUND OF CLASH. People set aside times in the day JUST FOR THIS, and you give us RNG win losses? This is a real disgrace, to be perfectly honest. Not only did we not get to play something YOU GUYS HYPED US UP FOR, we also HAVE TO SUFFER BECAUSE OF YOUR SERVER'S INCOMPETENCE TO UPHOLD ITS INTEGRITY. This needs to be reset, if not, to all those who were assigned RNG'ed losses, should be compensated or put into a** NEW BRACKET JUST FOR THOSE WHO WERE ASSIGNED LOSSES** You guys need to fix yourselves, and really re-evaluate what you're trying to do here.
Straight up, we deserve everything you said. We let you down and it is unacceptable We're still trying to figure out the cause of the crash, and I don't know what the next steps are going to be yet
Aoses 077 (OCE)
: Are you going to reset it tonight, do we keep waiting or can I just go back to playing solo?
it won't be reset tonight - what caused the crash is still under investigation and has effected multiple regions
Cohen (OCE)
: Everyone I know came 4th, couldn't this just have been scheduled to start at 8:30 instead? Everyone is hanging around waiting for news anyway, make teams re lock in so they can get a sub if needed.
Clash had a serious crash, and the problem hasn't been identified and resolved. We can't relaunch without it likely to break again. Engineers are working on it, but there won't be Clash tonight :( I wish I could give a better update - this sucks :(
Denial (OCE)
: Are you guys serious? I was so keen to play just to get told that this loss stays as a loss and I have to wait till tomorrows game.. I added my opponents and they said they lost also just like everyone above me is saying so I don't understand what you mean by winners were able to proceed. Don't you think you can reset every game and just start all over? I understand that things occur on your side that could be hard to control but don't you think it is quite harsh to just leave a loss on our W/L records for a game we didn't even play? Also, In order to come first you actually need to win every game but you just denied almost everyone that by saying the losing teams just get a refund of their ticket and need to wait till tomorrow to play. Come on Riot..
Clash had a substantial crash, and multiple regions have been affected. We're still trying to identify the problem and engineers are working on it. I don't have a meaningful update beyond that and I currently don't know what happened with the win/loses :(
: so basically if we were randomly assigned a loss we already cant win the top prize on sunday? and our time tonight is wasted? how is that fair
Yup, it's not good enough :( I know people have taken time out of their days to play and had to make sacrifices to set up for tonight. We're trying to figure out what went wrong and give you a better update
: Your player base has given you the answer we are clearly all on the same page as your "customers" wipe it start again at 9pm easy. taking most or all of your players out of the running for wining the whole thing is insanity, if this many league players can agree surely its obvious how to fix this too a agreeable measure in our eyes.
We're still trying to identify the problem :( Clash crashed, and if we re-launch it's likely to break again. Engineers are figuring out the cause, but there will be no further tournaments tonight
: Clash times
It's maybe not ideal, but it is possible to have a team that just joins the 4 team brackets on Sundays (which is 4pm AEST start). You don't have to play Friday and Saturday to join a fresh 4 team bracket on Sunday - https://support.riotgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000951548#BracketFormat it means you'd be playing for the 4-team trophy. Or perhaps you can sub for a team on Sundays?
: Clash times
Hey Not That Bard, Currently we are going with times that best suit the biggest chunk of the player community. It is unlikely that there would be enough players who would play Clash at a different start time to make this possible. Just to understand your situation better: what start time would actually be suitable for you?
tieger05 (OCE)
: Where the hell is Clash?
Clash was released globally simultaneously, so that meant Clash was released in our evening time (9pm AEST I believe). So it should be in your client now - message back if it's still not displaying for you!
: tfw when clash is placed at an unconventional time
Hey Epixragequit, Unfortunately Oceania covers multiple timezones, and we had to balance the start time for Clash. This meant for some, Clash would be starting as early as 5pm on Friday or as late as 9pm. Not ideal, but it gave the best chance for everyone in our region to play together.
Lalna (OCE)
: Why hasn't Clash team signups opened yet? It said today on the Clash tutorial page.
With the Clash release happening globally and simultaneously, it meant that for Oceania the release was later in the day. Should be there and viewable now! If there is any weirdness, try restarting the client and lemme know
DomPling (OCE)
: Team Creating CLASH OCE
Hey mate, May 20th is when the tournament registrations opened - so are definitely not closed already. The tournament will be kicking off on Friday with first matches at 7pm (AEST). To ensure your team gets entered into a bracket, every member of your team will need to lock in during the 30 minutes before the first match begins. So we have time! What troubles are you having exactly? Are you trying to create a team from within the client (under 'CLASH')?

Hello! Was seriously some great entries. To acknowledge the efforts of the artists, I've tried commenting on each piece I saw in the office... Koonu, your composition and color for mood is spot on. I also love the use of light for dramatic effect. Cressel, great job on the lighting and warm colors! I can almost feel the warmth of the fireplace in front of them Six, wanted to acknowledge your lighting! And the color details in Lux's hair - very subtle, and very effective Vanishment, enjoyed your exploration of medium with pencils and watercolour CrimsonSeal, you're use of dark and light was very effective in capturing the mood and directing the viewer's eye Rappel, loved you're effort on the ice/snow landscape - the subtle colors add so much more interest than just white snow! Konoumin, loved your treatment of the character's outline catching a subtle amount of light! Hyoton, love the glowing effect you achieved Ezreai, great job of capturing the terror of Vayne's victim and creating it as a secondary focal point Spoopychocolet, appreciate the effort you made to provide a background that sets the stage. The environment is just as important as the characters when telling a story or capturing a moment. Khronix, enjoyed the 'movie poster' feel you've created for your piece. the line art and the outline is very effective and compliments Vayne Archsage, kudos on experimenting with perspective and attempting a "first-person" view for your piece! Somet1mes, Great effort! ChiefMagic, your effort on Garen's face is worth it - heavily communicates the emotion of your piece Xynn, loved your vivid colors! Your trees and water were particularly successful TinKalzetin, Nod to your effort on perspective, particularly your care in depicting Garen's sword Bitr, well done on achieving a sense of motion and movement with your magical elements in your piece Cjjayme, The emotion of your piece is felt immediately. Much love guys, seriously some great work!
: Ocean Week Recap
I'm not going to lie - a _small_ bit of me was cheering for the roo. His "lost" battle image is my favourite.
Jwidja (OCE)
: Is the hp contributed the number of points u have
: I've got my 20 points, do I receive my chest and key for 20 or over at the end of ocean week?
Yup! At the end of the event, the hextech chest & key for earning 20 or more points will be distributed.
: Where in the legacy client can you track your progress?
The legacy client doesn't have it's own hub for Ocean Week, instead all information is available here on the promosite.
: no worries happy to help
I know this will probably sound super cheesy, but just wanted to chime in and thank you BurstFire303 for the feedback. I know it's a hassle, and pretty thankless, but it's appreciated.
: OCE VOD Spoilers
Hey BolshieColt, If you go to http://oce.lolesports.com/?mode=no-spoilers the scores should be hidden for the duration of your visit. It's a hack and super unofficial, I put in for a couple players who had the same issue as you. When you want the scores back, refresh your browser or hit 'http://oce.lolesports.com' again.
Easley (OCE)
: not that i know of. the oce lolesports page is incredibly lacking compared to the na one, doesn't even look like the results are fully updated yet
Hey Easley, yeah we ran into a production bug :( The OPL has introduced a new scoring system (if you want you check it out here: http://oce.lolesports.com/articles/opl-points-system-explained-71984). Things were going great until we hit the Exile5 vs Tainted Minds match. The engineering team is going to resolve it, but we couldn't risk touching the system until the other leagues had completed their matches. Sorry about the delay, I let you guys down on this one.
deficio (OCE)
: I'm on safari and it's still showing the enlist button in grey - even though I switched to firefox to enlist. I'm definitely logged in (and making a comment...) so i'm puzzled as to why it doesn't work. Could it be related to the 403 error I'm getting on the following asset? http://riot-dradis-assets-oregon.s3.amazonaws.com/dradis-0.5.0-prod.min.js It's causing a "Can't find variable: Dradis" error soon after.
Hey Deficio. if you could try the same things as Fangthane - could you try to re-login and try again? And then as another test, can you try from a different computer?
Koyotee (OCE)
: Hmmm, I'll try some troubleshooting on my end. But to verify, at the top right of the page, it's showing you as logged in before you try the button? And the button doesn't say "you are enrolled"? Sorry about the basic questions, but trying to be methodical. Would you know the version of internet explorer you are using?
To help with the troubleshooting, could you try to re-login and try? And then as another test, can you try from a different computer? Also, are you trying with Internet Explorer 8?
Fangthane (OCE)
: Koyote I am using explorer, normal browser on a PC running windows7. I have tried again this morning and now the button is grey and wont work at all. so I hate to say... its worse than yesterday lol. I can click on the icon and it depresses.. so to speak... but that's it. My mouse arrow stays as an arrow doesn't change to a hand if that's any help too.

Fangthane (OCE)
: I cant enlist at the moment... am I missing something. I pushed on the enlist now (yes.. I am logged in...) but it is grey. It takes me to the next page and says enlisting and that's it. I have to hit cancel to get out. Help me please !!!
Were you trying on Safari? We had detected an issue with that browser and deployed a fix. It'd help me out if you could let me know if your problem still persists!
Thirtz (OCE)
: Really happy to help! Anything to help on improving my favorite game. The link you shared still shows all the scores though? The front page has yesterday's matches all over it.
blerg, the post added the "," to the end of the link, try this: http://oce.lolesports.com/?mode=no-spoilers
: Not sure whether to go here or on the new thread you started but it's a fairly direct response so I'll put it here. I think I've seen both those methods done. If I remember the LCS pages used to have a global toggle that'd switch you into and out of spoiler mode. From my point of view both do the job fine, they let me get to the games without giving me information I shouldn't have. If VODs could be whatever I wanted, and this is an unlimited resources kind of concept, the whole esports site would basically be a point-in-time view of the league at the point where you're up to (either you tell it or it keeps track based on what you watch, jumps ahead when you skip matches). So for example if you've watched up to week X, game Y then you'd get a schedule page that has results up to that point and tells you who's playing after that but not what happened. You could have a standings page that gives you what the table looks like going into the match you're watching which is something I remember wishing I could have watching the VODs. This probably goes more to the casting but when they talk about the table implications of a match, without the standings in front of me it kinda goes right over my head, which is a shame because I love working through those scenarios. Unfortunately I can't look it up when I'm watching after the fact. Thanks for taking the time to indulge me. I'm looking at how I wrote the first post and how I'm writing this one, and I think you've shown more patience than I have.
That is a very cool idea! Having the site being able to roll back to a certain point in time. Because it's not just scores that are spoilers. Thinking out loud: The matches and articles are feasible, they both are explicitly tied to a date. What would be a pain I think, is team and roster details - they aren't really tracked in a historical sense, changes are almost transient once a tournament starts. Unless I work in reverse, and work from last match to see the players who were rostered for that match... Standings would face a similar issue, but that could be recalculated... ANYWAYS, this is cool, and it's not utterly impossible! Seems like a more holistic approach to the problem of "I missed last week" It's a bridge too far for the site as-is, but my action item from this conversation is to ensure this concept has visibility with eSports. At minimum, it's a great thought experiment to explore!
Thirtz (OCE)
: Ok so basically 2 things need to be changed. 1. The scoreboard needs to be hidden so you don't give away spoilers. 2. When you click the "Watch" button it shows you all 3 games (if it went to that) so you already know the results of the first two games before you have even watched them. This needs to be hidden as well. Solutions: 1. [Hide](http://imgur.com/DIvLagx) the score behind a "click to reveal" type thing. 2. Have 3 squares for the vods, even if the match was only 2 games. BUT [make the 3rd box hidden](http://imgur.com/TmafgJf) behind a "click to reveal" regardless of if there were 3 games or not. That way you need to physically click on it to see if there is a vod there to watch or not. I have attached a couple of visual references to show exactly what I mean. Forgive the shoddy quality. It was just a quick thing in paint to highlight the issues myself and others might be having. EDIT: Also, replicate something like this for the front page, too. You can't even go to the website without seeing the scores, immediately giving away the match results.
Hey Thirtz, thanks for the feedback AND solutions! I'll present your solutions to the team for open discussion. PrometheusHD had written a post with similar concerns, so I've tried to get something in before the games on Monday. If you go to http://oce.lolesports.com/?mode=no-spoilers, the scores should be hidden for the duration of your visit. When you want the scores back, refresh your browser or hit 'http://oce.lolesports.com' again. This will be a super unofficial feature (and a bit rough) for now. I'll need to discuss with the rest of the team how this fits into our product roadmap, and what our long-term approach would be for this. If you come across other pain points, or have more great ideas to share, lemme know!
: Hi Koyotee, since you suggested the Youtube page I'll point this out and be done. It is practically impossible to find games 1 and 2 for a match in that list and not notice if they have a game 3 next to them. Game 1 can be a surprise, game 3 as well if it happens, but game 2 (which is the money game for the vast majority of the matches I watch at least) was never a surprise when I used that page you linked to. This was what the VODs page used to do very well, you never knew if there was a game 3 unless you specifically tried to watch it. I also noticed the LCS and the other top tier leagues got to keep the spoiler free pages, I guess we're just special out here?

Tele (OCE)
: I thought this had been up for a while now? Either way it looks great! + _**Quick question though;**_ _Why is OCE not featured on the main lolesports.com page?_ I'll be honest, the OPL is obscure enough as it is. Not having exposure from the main site is not helping. I get that we can't be on the front page, but adding us and many other smaller competitive scenes to the dropdown menu shouldn't cause many problems. Are there any reasons as to why this is not possible/ hasn't happened yet?
Valid question, and the very unsatisfying answer I have to give is "I don't know". I'm not involved at the strategic level of esports, I'm involved in the web engineering side of things. Personally I feel you though, I struggle as a fan to keep myself across the entire scene, particularly the smaller regions. Feels like the scene is trying to catch up to it's growth.

That makes sense, even by browsing the VODs you could be potentially spoiled. For the page on the site, we were trying to combine the Schedule and VODS - to make it a one-stop shop kind of thing. But it certainly doesn't cater to your needs... Do you have some ideas for us? I don't want to jump automatically into solutions mode and say what the direction should be before hearing your concepts. Like you mentioned, is separating them like LCS into seperate pages the best solution? Or perhaps have scores hidden by default, and you have to reveal them? Or maybe something else I haven't considered. If VODs could be whatever you wanted, what would it look like? Thanks for your patience with this, and taking the time to talk!
: Thanks Riot for the new OPL vods page
I've spun up another thread, so that people can contribute feedback on the site: http://boards.oce.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/esports/LAjQ79Mn-the-new-esports-website-what-are-your-thoughts-on-it If you come across other issues, or think of something else, please don't hesitate to add it.

Hey PrometheusHD, disappointed to hear we missed the mark on this one for you :( If you're looking for straight-up vods, without the scheduling info, you can view them on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/RiotGamesOceania/videos Your VODs feedback has been shared with the team.
