: If you have honestly never been punished or banned before or actually never been generally toxic u have been really hard done by in this case, i mean depending on how vulgar the homophobic slur was but still riot themselves claims 2 week and insta bans are only given out in EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES. This is quite minor and i'm pretty stunned this has got a 2 week ban (taking u at your word its your first offense and generally are not toxic) usually the 2 week bans come after paragraphs of vulgar and offensive language throughout an entire game.. you literally said 1 word. Id recommend submitting a ticket to riot about this but considering it was a homophobic slur and god forbid if our society didn't adhere to whatever gay people say (equality and all the rest) so riot will probably say there is no tolerance. Hopefully they lift the ban to a chat ban or some shit but man.. This one is really unlucky ngl.

: Thing is when you know people they typically become less sensitized to what you are saying. I could go up to one of my mates and call him a dickhead and he'd just shake it off and call me a bitch. No issue. I wouldn't go up to a random and do the same thing because idk how they are going to react (also because its straight up weird and disrespectful, even in countries like NZ and AUS where people are more chill) Same can be said in league, don't use any language that could be borderline offensive (or straight out slurs) in a game where you are with 9 other people you don't know how they will react. Keep it to discord banter with your mates, DMs or chat when you are full 5man.

: The thing to keep in mind is that it's generally more about how it's received than how it's intended, and that's true whether the case is addressed by the automated system or an actual person. A good rule of thumb is "if you wouldn't say it to someones face IRL, don't say it in-game" (more or less gives you an idea of what could get you in trouble).

As a young adult in Australia, me and everyone I know is generally pretty vulgar in day to day sentences and life, even at work, or uni things like di ckhead and pri ck are never taken personally, so i guess when i use them I may assume that's always the case

It was a homophobic slur, but surely 1 word said 1 time wouldnt suggest a 14 day ban? And as I said, my entire team said it so if they weren't also banned that'd just be unconventional.
