Hello I'm a Pigeon, We peer with iiNet through a peering exchange, but this is something we have begun discussing with their team. I will be honest with you, connecting at 85 from Western Australia is reasonable, considering how big Australia is, and how far you are traveling to our game servers. Ideally we aimed for under 100ping when looking at data centers in Oceania, for all players. With that said we are constantly looking to improve the experience from each location, and each ISP. iiNet has been one of the better teams to work with, they have an open ear and are willing to work with us. For example, they unmetered all of the game traffic when you play League of Legends. I use iiNet at home and suffered from some similar pains, I contacted them and went through some tests to discover there was a fault on my connection at the exchange. They were able to fix it for me and I have been able to play much better since. If you feel that you should get better than 85ping, I would encourage you to reach out to your ISP and see if they have any faults on their end. Hope this helps.

Last time other than seeing it in-client while it was already live, I didn't see anything stating there was an upcoming community broadcast.
We could throw prizes at things but I feel like that misses the point. For us, it was about having fun with the community, and we hoped that was fun enough as is. I have seen a few posts on this tonight, and I honestly didn't realize that some of you still remembered us doing this a year ago. If we continue to see players asking for this, I'd love to make this happen again.

: Also wanting to say PLEASE DO THE RIOT VS COMMUNITY THING. Personally I find it a very exciting concept even though I was not there to experience it first hand, but sounds extremely fun and I am really bummed to miss out on it. Also, when the patch 5.14 came out I kept on experiencing lag issues. I would get these 1-5k ping spikes and was really annoyed for a few days. But thankfully, that matter fixed itself and I am experiencing what I would normally get ping. I would just like to ask, was it my fault of these ping spikes? Cause I would ask other players in my games and some would say they are also experiencing this. So was this my fault? If so, do you have any idea how I could avoid anything like this again. Thank you for your support riot, you guys always interact with the community and really makes this game fun!
Ping spikes can be attributed to a number of different things. We are always looking at ways to improve this for every player in Oceania. This isn't easy, considering Oceania is huge, there are many different ISPs in the area, and we have no clue how players are connecting at home. The best advice I can give you. * Make sure you are playing directly connected to your router (wifi is just not as reliable and adds more complexity) * If you don't see great ping, reach out to your ISP to run some basic tests, and see if there is a fault they can address (I did this at my home, and iiNet made a huge fix that was needed) * Check the boards to see if Riot is having issues, this can happen, but we do our best to communicate when we do see issues If you still have problems, go here: http://oce.leagueoflegends.com/en/tools/network-logs Run that test and submit your results, we do look there and will get back to you with some help in troubleshooting the problem.

I'm sorry to hear that, but playing on wifi opens the door to so many other variables. Now you are talking about the amount of people connecting, the distance you are to the router, etc... Try this out, basically go into your League of Legends installation and grab one of your network logs, then drop it in here: http://logsoflag.com/ It will provide you with some really good info, but take a look at packet loss, and if it's over 2%, you should really look into a solution where you can connect directly to the router via CAT5 cabling.

You've done great so far :) <3 I can jump on that second question. Yes we have partnered with Telstra (and a number of other ISPs in the region) to peer directly to our data center. This will help improve the connectivity for you and hopefully reduce the amount of hops you take to get to our game servers. Less hops is a good thing :) On that note, we are constantly measuring the effectiveness of each ISP per location and working with the ISPs to improve even more.

Wireless is not optimal and tends to experience more packet loss than being directly connected. On the Mac side of things, we did have a lot of crashes with the latest patch, 5.14 and have since patched out the fix. There was an issue specifically with the Mac, but if you have played since Friday, you would have that patch now. If not, I'd suggest launching the game and getting that update.

: I know your riot OCE guys probably hate getting this, but it's been over 2 years since the OCE server was released, and we still don't have our server skin. The community has thrown numerous ideas at you, some good, most bad. Obviously because of the wide diversity of the OCE server, it's hard to make a skin that will appeal to everyone, and we understand that. But at this point, most of us honestly couldn't care what the skins theme is, and the ones that do are probably in the vast minority. Most people have given up on ever getting the skin, but I'm still hopeful that it will come eventually. There was an update a few months ago I think, but I'm not too sure. We just want to know what's happening with it, if you've narrowed it down to a few ideas or what, anything, and if you can give us an ETA on it. Next question, what ever happened to Riot Penguinguru? he was active on forums for a bit then seemed to disappear off the face of the earth. Also, are there any plans to continue or restart with the Riot vs OCE Community games? Those were really fun, and I'm sure everyone that watched or played enjoyed it a lot, as it was a way for the OCE Rioters to get to interact with the community and for the community to get to know the rioters better. Obviously some improvements could be made, as some people got to play in multiple games, like myself, which was a bit unfair. Sorry for the long post, and thanks for making this thread, interacting with the playerbase and helping us understand what you're doing and planning to do is always good.

Hello Golden Tomato, I am pretty sure, I remember you beating our team in one of those Community matches. Honestly, we always have fun playing games and especially with the community. I am glad to hear you enjoyed these, it just didn't seem like something the community really loved. We would only see a small number of players engage on those nights. I think it went away a few weeks ago, at least, I haven't encountered it at all recently. I'd assume it was a routing issue of some sort. It was on TPG. Connectivity was always lag-free otherwise which is why I didn't feel the need to complain.

Hi Strat, First thing, I am really glad to hear that this was resolved, and not an issue for you at this time. There are three main pieces to playing League of Legends. * One is your personal home setup, router, cabled (not wifi I hope), your PC, other people in your house using the internet. * Second is the moment your packets leave the house, this is the ISP and the routing they have in place to get you to our Data Center * Third would be Riot and our infrastructure We have worked with many ISPs in the area, including TPG (whom we have a peering agreement with) to optimize your gaming experience. Hello everyone, I’m Riot Cochese and I run the Live Services team here in Oceania. My first thought, as I sat down to write this update was: what can I write here that won’t upset our players that have connectivity issues, those that seem to suffer more pains than other players, the ones that feel we aren’t doing anything to help them. We have come a long way since that first day, and if you take away any message here, please know we are not sitting idle. We are not done; we are continuously looking for improvements and working with ISPs to get the absolute best for all of you. Looking back to launch, there have been a number of improvements over the years. We went from, very excited to get the region launched, to the unknown, and then a slew of challenges and player pains to address. We’ve learned so much about the region since then. For one, this part of the world is massive in size and scale, how do you facilitate a great experience for every player, in every location? There have been some bumps and bruises; in fact, most of you would likely associate my name to an incident that occurred at one time or another – because that’s where I post on the boards – in "Help and Support". The truth is, when our team is doing a good job, you won’t even notice, because you are able to play the game, when and where you want. That’s the way it should be! We love going unnoticed, trust me, but that is not always the case. **What have we done?** * Added more diversity to our datacenter, to get better coverage across all the major ISPs in the region * Established syncs with ISP providers to discuss pain points we see, and hear from you * Improved the patching process, I hope nobody remembers the 8 hour patches that occurred last year! : Hey i have a mac and the patch seemed to download ok for me this morning however as soon as i get to loading screen the screen stays black and when i try to exit and reconnect it just stays black. How do i fix this? my LOL client worked fine before the patch. :(

Just saw confirmation from Spark via their twitter feed, that they were having issues with gaming sites and have fixed it on their end. They were instructing people to restart their modems at this point. If you are still seeing login issues as you read this, and are using Spark. Please restart your modem, if that doesn't work, I would urge you to reach out to their support line for a fix.

I play on a MBP laptop and not seeing this issue, I can verify we are running the same client version too, based on your screenshots. What OSX are you running on? (I am on Yosemite) Maybe your mac requires an update or driver update?

I'm sorry that isn't a good indicator for when Ranked will be back on, but I assure you this is the highest priority for our team right now. It's definitely painful to not be able to play one of your favourite champions and we don't take this lightly. We publish League of Legends around the world, and we aim to patch in each region, as close to the same time as possible. Meaning most regions get the same patch within 24hours. This is great for our players, because everyone wants to play with the latest updates, content, and bug fixes, as soon as possible. Sometimes though, we do introduce a game breaking bug, and in the best interest of fair play, we disable that champ. In the case of Zed, the bug was discovered on one region, but every region that has the new patch (most, including Oceania) would be affected as well. That is why you see Zed currently disabled in multiple regions. We are currently working on a fix, and we want to have Zed playable as soon as possible. We will update here on the boards, when this is ready. I hope that answers your question, but feel free to hit me up with any follow up questions.

I just checked on my client and it seems that the last game I played, before the patch, is missing the boots in my match history. (If I view this game on the web - I do see them) I also see boots in all my other games within the client. Anyone else seeing something like this?

Sorry War Warrior - it sounds like you played right around the timing of our 5.13 update earlier this morning. We do try to minimize the amount of patching that you do, I know it's painful here to download large files. Patch 5.12 also had some pretty big bugs that we felt needed to be patched out sooner than later. Again, I am sorry for the pain this caused you recently and something that we are working to improve.
