: "Or everyone is going to play support"... what a terrible problem to have! Simple fact is as a support you can get a game within a few seconds in queue. Can take 5min+ for any other role. This shows how many more players are searching non-supp roles. Trading roles is a non-issue since the person who queues as support will get the bonus, and only if they win. Of course all of this tapers off in higher ranks as support is viewed as a key role rather than a burden on the team.

No hyperboly there **everyone** will play support. We will have the same problem but in reverse. I don't know about you but I *hate* people asking for my role. If you wanted it you should have qued for it, and if you did and you got your secondary, then you have what you want.
: Great post. As a support main, here are a few other suggestions: - If support gets a kill, rest of the team also gets bonus gold; thus supports can potentially be PRAISED for getting a kill instead of "WTF U STOLE MY KILL FU USELESS SUPPORT!!!!" - All players receive bonus gold (1/gs), if all players on team have active wards on the map; to encourage everyone to ward and work as a team - Support wins should be worth more LP than non-support roles, especially in bronze/silver/gold, where being a support is seen as a burden on other players. This makes winning games, or at least influencing the outcome MUCH MORE DIFFICULT than in higher ranks where players understand that supports can provide more utility and control over a game. - In general, I find supports have more map awareness. Perhaps make supports 'team captains' (special icon in chat?), where their text stands out slightly more for players on their team. This will help when someone is trying to take the lead in where to position/lane to push/strategy etc. With a few minor tweaks, I think support will be the desired champion role and not one that people never want to play. As the poster above says - "you're just the support" (and similar negative tones) are what I consider to be the #1 toxic comment you can make to a support player.
I have toyed with the idea of bonus LP for suppor or fill. There are a TON of problems that go woith it though. I think you should be limited to how many bonus LP support games you can have per day, otherwise everyone is just going to play support. The other issue is trading roles, somone ques up as a sup, then gets into select and trades off with someone else.

: The whole point of playing as a support is to be the selfless player of the team that helps everyone else reach their max potential. Human nature makes us want to be the heroes or stars of the team where as support is almost the complete opposite. If you cannot handle being the selfless player that boosts others above himself then you should not play support. This is of course my opinion, think and feel as you please.
That is why there is a problem. That IS the whole problem. It's asking someone to do all the boring arduous work for none of the reward or satisfaction. Some people are pretty selfless, but this is a problem beyond that. The game is asking supports to be 'used', not to selflessly assist, but to sacrifice their own enjoyment so others can have fun. Bottom line is that supports need more respect, and support needs to be a more enjoyable role.
: omg i so agree with that statement, i also main support as i love the way my prefered supp champs lane well and provide a well balanced ambulence system. I get no recognition for it except those close to my circle. I am level 7 sona and naut main and struggled to get to bronze 1 this season due to mathing with people who didn;t play as good as they may of...... and i have often been heard on discord saying "Omg i shouldn't have to carry as a support(arkonsands on oce)This last season has caused me to try maining top and mid even though i prefer to play a tank naut or a healing/poke sona. I would love to see some better thought out support itemisation for supp mains. maybe select champ items like victors power core for the real supp champs. {{champion:37}} {{champion:111}} {{item:3504}} {{item:3174}} {{item:3222}} {{item:3107}} {{item:3069}}
If your having that sort of trouble in bronze (It happens), Judging from what you have said, I would suggest learning {{champion:117}}. You have all the ability to poke and buff and whatnot, but if your AD is pants you can just E/Q waves and force some map pressure. Easiest way to carry bronze games is just push waves to tower.
: iv had supports just as arragant as adc's before tho. blamming the adc that they didnt do enough in that fight when the support ks's a doublekill
If the support is in a fight, then its not KS. They did the work, they are entitled to the rewards. There are dick supports out there, just not that many.

: But that's the idea. No other role has an item that is "necessary" to it. Sure it's an excellent item, but there should be alternatives to it so people don't stagnate in their play.
{{item:1401}} Junglers might disagree with you...

: In terms of the gold income, I think it's pretty simple, buff the three gold income items! Gain bonus gold from spoils of war instead of getting the same amount as the adc, more gold on tribute stacks, and maybe even adding in a passive gold generation to {{item:3301}} like the other two. Aside from the items, you could buff bandit as well, more gold per dead minion, less of a gap between the gold gained from hitting an enemy as a ranged than as a melee champ. Also could you add a little buff icon which tells you how much gold you've earned from it? For itemisation, I think the big problem is there aren't enough flashy items. Just look at all the new items that the assassins got, and then before the mid season mage update, and then before that the the jungle and adc changes. What do we supports get? Not as much to be honest. {{item:3107}} was a good idea, you can actually make good plays with it. {{item:3109}} is cool as well, but not as cool as {{item:3107}} . The only other item that I would attribute with being flashy is {{item:3050}} , mainly because it's really fun to shout at my adc, "WE HAVE CRIT!", after a long build up and then we wreck face. Most of the supports item we have now are just pretty stale, heck you removed the heal from{{item:3222}} , like WTF! I know you can make us some great items because you've given all the other roles cool ones. Also on the topic of items, give {{item:2049}} a special passive where you can have 4 wards instead of 3 down on the field. That'll definitely make the vision game more fun. You can also make the Eyes more effective, because seriously, {{item:2302}} is useless, and considering that you've just buffed {{item:3401}} then what's the use of {{item:2303}}?
Well considering that {{item:2303}} opens up a slot for another tank item on a champ that wants to survive (or more utility), that is **very** usefull. The problem with giving items extra gold income or making really flashy items is that other roles wil co-opt them. They will the get subseqently nerfed due to them being used in every lane, and support will be left with nothing. The extra wards on {{item:2049}} is a good idea though.
: Some thoughts on Support
If you want to fix Supports then you need to focus on one phrase "You're the support" Everytime I hear that in a game, it reminds me that as a support main, I am not there to play the game, only to help other people play. Getting behind as a support is painfull. Not only do you have to find some way to get xp and gold to be useful, but you almost always have to do it away from your AD, who is likley the reason you are behind in the first place (usualy because they have no respect for your cooldowns). The itemization is really boring, there are very few support items that I look forward to getting in game, and some that I actively hate having to build, just because the game neccesitates it. I hate doing 90% of the work towards a kill or a teamfight to not only have my team not recognize me, but to have the game itself not appreciate my contribution. Esepcialy when my job is to be bait, or a distraction so my team can get objectives. Fix gold and exp sharing, make the support items share rewards better on kill or assist (do it on the rank 2 items so otherlanes don't try to co-opt supports and ruin everthing like they always do). Give the support items some decent stats, so I don't feel like I'm buying items for someone else on the team. Remember that I am playing. I am one of the five people on this team. I'm not just here for everyone else, I wan't to be involved, I wan't to contribute and I don't want to be told "you're just the support" anymore.
